From 5 dpf larvae to breeding adults — Planktovie provides everything your zebrafish facility needs. Trusted by 300+ research labs in 40+ countries. European distributor of Reed Mariculture and Skretting.
Zebrafish (Danio rerio) require different nutrition at each life stage. Here's the standard feeding protocol used by leading research facilities worldwide.
50-100 µm particles. Feed ad libitum 3x daily from 5 days post-fertilization. 59% protein, 14% oil.
100-200 µm particles. Transition at 18 dpf. Feed ad libitum 3x daily until 31 dpf.
200-500 µm particles. For sub-adults and adults. Feed twice daily. Improves fecundity.
400-700 µm particles. For adult fish and spawners. Once daily feeding sufficient.
Many facilities supplement dry feed with live organisms for improved growth and survival during early development.
Essential first feed for marine fish larvae. Produced in-house and QM Diagnostics certified. Available in 1M, 5M, 10M, and 100M units. Culture with RGcomplete for optimal nutrition.
Freshwater cladocerans widely used as live feed for zebrafish and as standard test organisms in ecotoxicology. Pathogen-free, QM Diagnostics tested. Available in 2,000-individual units.
Very small nauplii (~430 µm) for first feeding of delicate larvae. Hatching efficiency >300,000 nauplii/gram. Rich in EPA (>15 mg/g dry weight). No enrichment needed.
Super-concentrated microalgal feed for rotifers. Built-in ClorAm-X ammonia neutralizer. DHA 41.9 mg/g, EPA 18.1 mg/g. Refrigerated, 6-month shelf life. Planktovie is the exclusive European distributor.
Precision tools designed to improve feeding reproducibility and reduce labor in zebrafish research.
Semi-automatic dispenser for powders and granules (Gemma Micro, Skretting feeds). NFC tag reading for tank identification, programmable vibration timing, rechargeable battery. Eliminates musculoskeletal strain for lab technicians.
Semi-automatic zooplankton dispenser for precise distribution of rotifers, Daphnia, and Artemia to individual tanks. Programmable dispensing volume with peristaltic pump mechanism.
Complete benchtop rotifer production system. Includes T-assembly, airstone, floss carrier, and clips. Culture specs: 14L saltwater, 27°C, pH 7-8, feed RGcomplete. Harvest 20-30% daily.
8 water quality tests in 2 minutes. Alkalinity, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate, Ammonia, pH, and more. Touchscreen, Bluetooth, portable. Pre-measured reagent discs — no preparation needed.
Standard feeding protocol recommended for zebrafish research facilities, based on published literature and validated by Planktovie's scientific team.
Day 0-4 (post-fertilization): No feeding required. Larvae absorb yolk sac nutrients.
Day 5-17: Begin feeding GEMMA Micro 75 (50-100 µm) ad libitum, minimum 3 times daily. Optionally supplement with freshly hatched Artemia nauplii or rotifers for improved growth.
Day 18-30: Transition to GEMMA Micro 150 (100-200 µm). Continue 3x daily feeding. Artemia or rotifers can be offered as supplemental live feed.
Day 31+: Switch to GEMMA Micro 300 (200-500 µm) for sub-adults and adults. Feed twice daily for sub-adults, once daily for adults and spawners. GEMMA Micro 300 has been documented to improve fecundity and reduce feeding frequency.
Adults/Spawners: Some programs transition to GEMMA Micro 500 (400-700 µm) during the adult stage. Supplement with live Daphnia magna or rotifers 2-3 times per week for enrichment and behavioral stimulation.
Storage: GEMMA Micro should be stored in a cool (<20°C), dark, dry place. Use within 24 months of manufacture. Once opened, use within 1 month, sealed and refrigerated.
